The more that things change, the more they stay the same

Well it was a crazy second half of 2011. After a busy 2010-2011 the band needed a bit of a break. As a result, during this time away we had some internal changes both on and off of the stage. Some of you will notice Freewill has undergone its first band member change in over ten years.

We now have the pleasure of welcoming our new guitarist Dale “Digital Man” Zapata into the Freewill family. Dale has played with many tribute bands in his musical career and is a natural fit with the band with his “Alex like” chops and mainly because of his never ending comical outbursts!

The band wishes nothing but the best to our friend “The Analog Kid”. He is an amazing guitar player and we shared many a great moments along the road. We could have easily decided to end the band right then and there (and almost did) but after a very short time of thinking about it realized that there is still a love to play this music. A lot of effort goes into to this band and sometimes it can be way too much to deal with… but we were just not ready to walk away from all of those years of fun and hard work. (We should have run away years ago!)

When rocking on stage or even when it’s just us rehearsing the songs I really enjoy the work of it! And you know what they say….

This year we will be performing the entire side one of 2112 at every show we play as our tribute to the band we love. Saturday at 9pm February 18th we will be performing a quickie 45 minute set featuring 2112 in Tempe Arizona. Saturday March 31st we will performing over 2 hours of great Rush music including 2112 at the SKYE Music Venue in Phoenix. We are really looking forward to these upcoming shows so please come out and support us! We would also like to thank the “Freewill Family” for all of their love and support behind the scenes.
